Social Conversations with Bill Drayton (AB '65, Ashoka founder))

  • 1:30pm to 3pm - Thursday June 15th

The next generation of leaders faces complex global and local challenges, and strives to make a meaningful impact on society. In order to succeed, they need perspectives that cross national and sectoral boundaries, the ability to experiment and adapt, and the commitment to create change that matters for people. One term for this kind of leader is a “changemaker”, or someone who drives large-scale solutions to tackle entrenched social problems. In this fireside chat and dialogue, Bill Drayton, Chairman and CEO of the Ashoka Foundation, focuses on how to empower young people to become changemakers. SMU was designated Asia's first Ashoka Changemaker Campus, joining a global network including Cornell University, Duke University, and others, in recognition of our commitment to educating leaders with the capability to create meaningful impact across sectors. Organized by Lien Centre for Social Innovation.
